The powerful 12-amp motor combined with five spinning brushes that operate at either high or low speed lift the usual dirt and grime out of carpets. By pulling on the trigger in the comfortable upright handle, this deep cleaner releases the included carpet/upholstery cleaner and hot tap water. I bought Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac about 5 months ago and could not be happier. I have had 3 carpet cleaners in my life and none worked as well as this one. I bought the Bissell ProHeat 2 early this year and learned quickly that if you use that much heat on certain spills, they set. So back to the store it went after the ProHeat burned apple juice into my carpet. (Apple juice is not really a stainer, either). So, instead, I purchased this Hoover SteamVac, and got about $80 in return. It made a HUGE difference. Granted, it did not remove the stain that was set in by the Bissell, but the amount of dirt that was removed from my carpet was increased noticeably. It dries MUCH quicker that the other ones that I have used, even the professional ones. Like the fact that you can see the water being sucked up into the tank. Helps you know how wet the carpet is so you don’t leave it too wet.

Easy enough to use on a weekly basis, as I do. One or two rooms at a time is the best way for me to clean my apartment. YOU CANNOT EXPECT MIRACLES FROM A CARPET STEAMER! IF YOU DUMP KOOLAID ON THE FLOOR, NO CARPET CLEANER IS GOING TO GET IT OUT! So some of the reviews, I think are a little unfair. As we all know… kool-aid is evil when it comes to carpets, as is wine. Once it is there, it mostly stays there. Don’t blame a cleaner for clumsiness!
